The novel hybrid technique uses information and technology used to develop therapeutic contact lenses for those with migraines and photophobia (light sensitivity) and combines it with disruptive technology within the resource references to create amalgamated compositions that are further developed and rendered to create the ideal digital painting that mimics the artist’s unique art style. This is then used as a master reference for creating the traditional oil paintings.
This approach mirrors the endeavors of fellow avant-garde artists who are honing their craft with cutting-edge technologies. As a conventional oil painter, I've ventured into experimenting with disruptive innovations, aiming to enhance traditional methods for crafting more robust artworks efficiently, all while prioritizing improved outcomes.
Initially the creative process starts with ideas, design a creation strategy with prompt development, and then utilize a disruptive generative AI platform (Midjourney Pro) to replicate the artist’s own traditional art style as accurately as possible within the digital medium. Then drafts and reference materials are gathered, and subsequently enhanced using traditional oil painting techniques that are transcribed to digital (within Corel Painter). Next additional software (Topaz Suites) is utilized, commonly used by professional photographers, to further enhance and enlarge the image. Then the artist performs additional digital hand-finishing to ensure that the end result closely resembles the artist’s traditional oil painting style (using Corel Painter). This process significantly reduces the time required for completion of an image from 40-60 hours down to 4-7 hours to develop the digital painting and the traditional oil painting takes an additional 4-7 hours. Through this process a 60 hour painting now can be done in 14 hours. From this point the artist take this digital version of the piece and use it as a key reference for a traditional oil paint as opposed to the traditional methods of using still life, photos, and figures as individual references.
For more complex concepts, it may still require a considerable amount of time and effort to create these digital references. Despite its limitations, this process is beneficial for meeting market demands while operating within a limited time/financial budget as an artist. This saves time, personal resources, materials, and optimizes production to focus on the best illustrations and fine art pieces to put into market.
